Healing Can Happen Through Relaxation The comment I hear most often from clients, at the end of a Craniosacral Therapy session or Reiki session, is that they have never before felt so deeply and completely relaxed. There is something in the quiet of those two Holistic therapies that nurtures you, mind, body and soul.

You will see the term “holistic approach” all over my website, social media and blogs. It is the approach I take to all of the sessions I offer and how they may impact you on the day that you’re receiving them.
During December your self care may be put aside to deal with the busyness of the season, but with the colder weather and increased stress of the holidays you need more self care to ease your body, mind and spirit through to January. Physically the colder weather has an impact on your movement, muscles and joints. In order to maintain a constant core temperature the body may lessen circulation to extremities which can leave them feeling stiff, sore, cold and less mobile. OR, you may be using different muscle groups as you shovel snow or adjust your walking gait to avoid slipping. Even the skin is impacted by colder weather and can often need extra hydration. We had the most interesting experience yesterday, a client and I. During a Craniosacral Therapy session my client displayed, in real time, a response from the Vagus Nerve. It was pretty amazing to be a part of! A Reiki practitioner and teacher, this short clip will introduce you to Reiki, what it is, what to expect during a session and what to expect from classes. Below the video are links to more information. How Often Should I Book In?How often should I book in and when should I book in again are two questions that I am often asked. Here's what I tell clients (more importantly is the why) When dealing with a specific injury or issue I recommend a minimum of once a week until you begin to notice progress. Afterwards, spreading to every 2 weeks, every 3 and then onto a maintenance schedule. The exception to this is with Craniosacral Therapy and Spinal Touch Therapy (I'll explain those two a little more below) Why? Injuries and specific issues often require treatments close together in order to ensure the body, mind and spirit progress along the path of natural healing. Booking once and then carrying on and again just living with the pain can not only set you back to pre-injury condition but can possibly set you further back. Which is much more expensive to deal with when your body finally does say "that's it! You have to deal with me!" Because now we may be addressing a chronic condition. There have been a lot of bookings for Indian Head Massage with Oil in recent weeks. Clients are feeling the dryness of Summer inside and out while their bodies and minds are subconsciously preparing for Autumn. Plus they slide off the Massage table in a state of complete relaxation and total bliss! Ayurveda is a "science of life" , a powerful mind-body system of health
developed thousands of years ago in India. Gentle, slow unwinding of Fascia while also opening up any restrictions in the movement of cerebral spinal fluid, are the goals of a Craniosacral Therapy session. I often find that if a muscle is not letting go with traditional Massage Therapy, that a gentle Craniosacral hold to the area will do the trick. Sometimes muscles require a lighter touch to respond. At this point in our journey it's accepted that you have embraced the idea that the health of mind, body and spirit are all integral to our holistic well-being, and that it's totally ok to have any and all emotions during changes in your life that affect all parts of you. If you're not at this point yet then move backwards through the previous blog posts...this next part of the journey is interesting, playful and enlightening. I think that one of the downsides to people feeling safe to share their journey towards holistic balance is Toxic Positivity. Ourselves or others can often feel uncomfortable with emotion, and so will downplay it in others, or we stuff it down in ourselves. Neither are healthy and that is not what this journey will be about. It's time to get honest with how you're feeling.
