What should I wear to my session?
It’s important that you are comfortable for any session you have so that you can fully relax. Try to stay away from tight, restrictive clothing and waistbands, be sure to bring an extra sweater or jacket for after your session in case you cool down. For Craniosacral Therapy it is suggested that you wear lighter, looser clothes such as t shirt and yoga pants. Please avoid wearing tight or push up bras. It's important to be hydrated before and sometimes during your session. Be sure to bring water with you. For Holistic Massage sessions you may find that there is residual lotion or oil left on your skin so be sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting oil on. Do I fully undress for a session? For Craniosacral Therapy, Reflexology, Reiki, and Marma Point Therapy you remain fully clothed. For Holistic Massage and some Ayurvedic sessions you undress to your comfort level (maximum to your underpants). There are sheets and blankets on the massage table to cover with. During your session only the part of your body that is being treated will be uncovered. Strict draping protocols are used for all clients. For example: If your left leg is receiving massage then only your left leg will be uncovered, otherwise the covers remain on and around you. Can I talk during a session? This is your session and it is up to you. That being said, you will get much more from your sessions, especially Craniosacral Therapy, if you are quiet, relaxed and tuned into the responses to the session. I do ask though, that if at any time you are uncomfortable during your session you let me know. Is my session covered by extended health benefits? It depends on the plan that you have with your benefits provider and what they cover. While I am trained in Massage Therapy, I am an RMT in Alberta only, and not in B.C. Some plans that have personal wellness accounts cover sessions, some companies are expanding to cover holistic therapies. Each company is different so please check with yours. I do not direct bill but do provide a receipt by email at the end of your session, once payment has been made. Do I only treat women? As 95% of my clientele has been women from the start (1994) I have focused my continuing education since then, on women's health. This is my specialty and the focus of my practice. That being said, sessions such as Craniosacral Therapy and Reiki work with each individual and where they are at physically, emotionally, etc. and my continuing education with those modalities has focused on overall wellbeing for all. Holistic Massage sessions are for women unless you are referred to me by an existing client. |
