Many many years ago, in 1994, I received what I think, to this day, was the best business advice I've ever had (and I have received a lot)! It was simple advice but has proven itself invaluable these many years. Always, Always be ready to celebrate! When I stepped out into the field of Holistic Health I was initiated into Reiki, had my Reflexology Certificate and was on the waitlist for Massage Therapy school. I also opened a Metaphysical Store in the small town that I lived in, as a place to practice healing arts and retail complementary product. What did I know about retail? Not very much. I transitioned into the Holistic Health field from Interior Design and Decorating, and prior to that, Office Management and Secretarial work. So before opening I set out to learn from those already successful in the field. In an even smaller town nearby was a Metaphysical Store that had been successful for many years and the owner, Margaret, was happy to talk with me AND provide me with her best advice. Always, Always be ready to celebrate! She shared with me that she always kept Champagne in the fridge at home because you just never knew what kind of day you were going to have and when there would be something to celebrate. She said that other family members knew the Champagne was there and could use the bottle to celebrate, however it must always be replaced. A big part of many new age beliefs share the foundation that what you think about and what you put 'out there' is what you will draw, energywise, into your life. By being ready to celebrate, life will send you experiences that you'll want to observe, bless and rejoice in. Celebration does not have to be with Champagne of course, nor does it happen only for business. Anything or any activity that truly helps you to honour something that has happened to help you move forward, is worth celebrating. Through the past 29 years I've been given a lot of really good business advice that has helped all aspects of operating past and current businesses. (I closed the retail aspect of my business after 15 successful years. When closing I was also teaching and performing dance, and operating a full time Holistic Health practice...one thing had to go.) What has remained a constant though, has been a bottle of champagne in my fridge. Always!
