While it wasn't my intention, I ended up going through Menopause! I had seen my mother and older sister go through it as well as many clients and decided that no, all of that just wasn't something I wanted to experience. Imagine my surprise when life threw me that curve ball anyways!
When I started to suspect perimenopause was raising itself into my awareness I went on the hunt for a holistic approach. What a disappointment that was. Every book I read encouraged me to just embrace the symptoms. How does one embrace hot sweats that come without notice and have you leaning back in the hopes that you don't drip on your Massage client...ugh!
Then there is the lack of sleep. For no apparent reason a good night's sleep becomes elusive, yet the next work day must go on. I really didn't find anything about this new phase of life that I wanted to embrace. Some may find that easier.
My next steps were to seek natural solutions that worked for me. As a Holistic Practitioner I was aware that not every therapy I offered was the best for every client because each client is unique. That includes me. My path led me to Homeopathy, BodyTalk, Craniosacral Therapy, increased Omegas, Dance and regular Massage Therapy. Through trial and error I discovered what my body wanted in order to "survive" the pre and post menopausal years.
