~ even if you haven't had Covid-19.
I have noticed that the pandemic we are in, and have been for three years, has shown visible symptoms in every client that I've seen through that time. Regardless of occupation, age, beliefs, etc. many are exhibiting the symptoms of PTSD and Chronic Stress. Yes, it is more intense with those clients in Healthcare and the Teaching professions, however it has been obvious in everyone.
Clients are experiencing increased headaches, fatigue, brain fog, digestive issues, muscle tightness, anxiety, anger, fear, depression... whether they have contracted Covid (or one of its variants) or not. It seems that so may are stuck in fight or flight mode.
If a client has contracted Covid it's the unknown that seems to cause stress and distress. The not knowing about any long term effects they may experience, did they pass it on to anyone, keeping others safe... And for those that haven't, the concerns are pretty much the same. This virus in its unpredictable nature has kept many on edge.
Understand that in no way am I wanting to increase fear around Covid, but instead to encourage clients to take a good look at how it is impacting them and where they may have physical and emotional symptoms that need to be released in a healthy way. As much as we want to “just get on with life” this pandemic has not abated enough yet that we can “just go back to how it was before”. And in that there can also be a sense of loss, deep fatigue and depression.
Taking steps to bring our Nervous System back in to balance can go a long way towards healing the impact the pandemic has had on us both physically and emotionally. Craniosacral Therapy works directly on the Nervous System, Yoga encourages deep breathing and the release of natural feel good endorphins, Massage can calm the nerves and ease out muscle knots while encouraging better digestion, Reiki is beneficial for restoring a sense of calm, peace and harmony...
Whatever your preferred modality, it's a good idea to begin and continue releasing the chronic stress that this pandemic has brought by repeatedly encouraging your body and mind to return to a state of balance. We are not meant to live in a state of chronic stress as it takes a toll on the body, mind and spirit.
