A woman’s life is naturally cyclical, from birth to death. Hormonal changes throughout your lifetime create an arc of growth, maturity and an eventual end, all of which impact your body, mind and spirit. At different stages of that growth different aspects of the whole woman come to the forefront. Early life is mostly focused on physical growth and as you flow into your later years, the spiritual side can begin to take precedence. Energy shifts constantly flow through all of your years of life. Each stage and each cycle creates the unique and empowered woman that you are today. During the hormonal rages of peri and post menopausal years mind, body and spirit experience imbalances to greater or lesser degrees for each individual woman. While everything I’ve read encourages embracing this, it’s a disruptive and uncomfortable period of time for most. Both Reiki and Chakra balancing can help. The Chakra energy centres in the body align with different physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of your being. They can become imbalanced with stress, injury, illness and trauma…and also hormonal shifts. Bringing them into balance brings all of your energy and vitality forward for you as you move forward in your day to day life. With a focus on supporting the Endocrine system this balance can be especially beneficial during the menopausal years, and after, for holistic well-being.
To balance the Root chakra wear the colour red, put a crystal in your pocket such as Red Jasper, Bloodstone or Obsidian. Spikenard or Vetiver are essential oils with grounding scents.
To balance this orange coloured Chakra wear orange, or carry a crystal such as Carnelian, Moonstone or Tiger’s Eye with you. Ylang Ylang, Tangerine, Sweet Orange and Rose are beautiful scents to help with balancing this Chakra.
Crystals that help to balance the Heart Chakra include Rose Quartz, Jade and Malachite. Both the colours of Green and Pink have been linked with the Heart Chakra as well as the scents of Rose and Pine.
To bring balance use the colour indigo, scents of Lemon or Sandalwood, and the crystals Amethyst, Labradorite or Fluorite. The colour Violet helps to balance this Chakra. Crystals such as Clear Quartz, Selenite and Diamond can be helpful. Scents for this Chakra centre include Jasmine, Rosemary and Sandalwood. You know your being better than anyone else and are likely aware of which Chakras are feeling out of balance and needing attention. Turning your attention inward, as you practice selfcare, can help you to flow through the menopausal years with greater ease.
