Taking time to assess what you need to let go of is not, I don’t think, as difficult as the steps to actually letting go. Life can become mired in old ways of doing things or holding onto items because you’ve had them for years, in other words, stagnation. Through following old beliefs or staying in relationships that no longer serve you, the journey forward becomes stuck. To recognize and assess what you need to let go of is a journey in itself. To take the steps to actually let go can be scary. Why would it be scary to let go of that which no longer serves you or what is actually draining your energies rather than feeding you? Because it involves change and a leap forward into the unknown. To truly let go of people, beliefs and items that are draining us requires huge trust and faith that we can safely let go, and that what is on the other side of our actions will be better than where we are now. Take a moment to ponder how much energy you put into not letting go. Here are some starting points...
Giving away or donating items, embracing new beliefs, leaving a relationship can make you feel defenceless, exposed and unsafe. It takes away the safety rails, so to speak, but only for a short time. When you finally release old energies it can create a void. However, energy is constantly in motion and that void will fill up again. You have the power to re-fill the void with energy that serves you as you move forward on your life path. Yes, it can be scary and sometimes the risk feels too great. Guess what? You don’t have to completely let go to regain and shift energy. Step by step can be easier and less scary than cutting everything out completely. If that is where your comfort zone lies then give yourself permission to do it your way. Perhaps as you assess what you need to let go of, you can also assess what actions feed your energy, spark your soul and allow you to move forward. Putting the two lists together, see if you can find spaces to do both. You may find it easier, in the future, to completely let go, when you see the void being filled in the step by step process. Trust your gut. Develop your trust and faith in ways that feel good to you and are empowering. Be gentle with yourself as you follow your journey. Especially as you have to pay attention to day to day commitments. During a Reiki or Craniosacral Session there is the opportunity to come into a calm and peaceful space where the body and mind are resting. In that quiet space you are more able to listen to spirit and that can be a positive guide in helping you with the tasks and the journey ahead.
