![]() One of the main focuses of a Craniosacral Therapy session is to encourage your Nervous System to relax, so that your body can reset. When your Nervous System shifts from the sympathetic (fight or flight) to parasympathetic (rest and digest) function, the healing begins, on all levels. Allowing yourself to surrender and let go isn’t easy for some. It requires your confidence and trust in both me, and in yourself. Trust that I am a safe person to completely relax with, and that I have the skills and training to provide your session. ![]() There is also a need for trust, confidence and self-confidence in yourself. Trust that you can handle whatever your healing may bring to your mind, body and spirit. The self-confidence to accept all aspects of yourself as you both heal and move forward in your life journey. An acknowledgement that aspects of your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual self are likely to change as the healing begins and continues. In other words, change. The one constant in life that many dread. Difficulty in surrendering and allowing may manifest in different ways and can be due to a myriad of reasons. Some may “work hard” to stay awake so that they don’t “miss” anything, others may talk throughout their session. In forcing yourself to remain alert and aware, and to be "in control", you are maintaining that stimulation of your sympathetic nervous system. You are actually working against the healing benefits of your session. ![]() It’s normal, and a natural part of your nature, as a human mammal, to remain alert and aware in order to be safe. It can take some time, consistent effort and courage to let go and allow. Being vulnerable can mean having to be fearless. That is why it’s important that I provide a space where clients can feel safe in their physical surroundings, and that clients feel that I am a safe person to be with. I acknowledge and honour that the trust between us may take some time. There are no deadlines, it takes as long as it takes. My wish is that you allow yourself that grace of space and time to allow your trust to come naturally. Once that sense of trust and allowing develops you will find that you benefit so much more from quiet healing sessions such as Reiki and Craniosacral Therapy.
