When a belief, relationship, physical item, etc. are held on to, part of your energy is held in the past, when you were first given the item, the relationship started or the belief was taught. If the associated memories are positive then you feel good when thinking about the past, and that energy of feeling good brings positive thoughts into your now. Where your energy belongs. However, if items, beliefs or relationships bring negative thoughts or memories, anger, sadness, fear... then that is what you bring into your now. A part of your energy can become stuck in that space of negativity and those things that you’re ready to let go of, but haven’t, can drain you physically, emotionally and spirituality. Often these experiences are what have created the filters through which you view your world and your place in it. To let go of the familiar can create stress, tension and anxiety, but so can holding on. Whether you recognize it or not. Holding on to negative beliefs can clutter our mind, impact our physical body and cause emotional pain. Eating disorders, Insomnia, Stress, Depression are just a few of the effects. Stress in it's chronic or acute stages can be debilitating to mind, body and spirit. The changes it creates in the body can lead to emotional responses of depression and anxiety. (~Your Mind, Body and Spirit on Stress ) Taking the steps to let go of that which no longer benefits you, helps to bring your focus and energy into your present moment. Imagine replacing the anxiety, tension and stress of holding on, with the peace and joy of moving forward. It has been well researched that stress can have a debilitating impact on your mental and physical well-being. You do have the power within you to let go, move toward joy and be well in mind, body and spirit. There are many “quick to heal you” offers on the web that may or may not be helpful. What I have often seen with these is the expectation that you can move through the letting go process quickly and easily. Rarely have I experienced that to be the case with clients. Your mind is very protective of you and as we journey through life that can be a good thing. Yes, you need to stretch out of your comfort zone to grow, however, you do need to work at your own pace, despite what others may be pushing you towards. Reaching out for help in the journey is a really good idea. Finding supportive people to talk with as you shift and change is important. And giving yourself the time and the space you need is essential. Do you have an awareness of what is holding you back, what you need to let go of? That would be the first step. Through Meditation, Breathwork, Reiki, Craniosacral Therapy… you can allow, in the quiet peaceful space that is created, for awareness to come forward. If you can take time to let go of the busyness and just “be”, your mind knows what it is you need to bring to the forefront. When you have the awareness of what needs to be released, what if you started with small, easy steps? Maybe taking action on letting go just a day at a time. What if you also took time to celebrate yourself on each of the small steps that you’ve taken? To be grateful to self for doing “the work”, how would that feel? As you release the past and allow yourself to celebrate, show gratitude in the joy of moving forward you will notice that your energy shifts. As your energy shifts to awareness of the positive it impacts your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. One day at a time. Related Articles
