Just a few months ago the Massage Therapist that I see asked me when I would begin following the advice that I give to clients. Whomp! The realization that despite my mind believing I'm still 30 years old, my body is saying a loud and clear "Hey, NO!" Not easy to come to grips with, but while I do practice self-care, I need to develop a deeper understanding of my limitations. To deny my own limitations is to block my personal growth as well as self-compassion. Society, media and our fast-paced lifestyles define limitations as something to push past, conquer and overcome. In other words to be invincible, as though we're not human. It seems to have limitations makes us weak, unable, and viewed as giving up. But is that really true? In recognizing our limitations we can avoid stress, burnout, pain and fatigue and embrace body awareness, self-love and empower ourselves. It's actually a show of strength to be in a state of self-awareness where we learn to acknowledge our boundaries, physically, emotionally and mentally, and stay within them. A really tough decision to come to, but after 30+ years my body is telling me to take some of the modalities that I offer "off the table". Tough because I absolutely love what I do and am so grateful to have the opportunity to share Holistic Sessions with clients. But reality knocks and I am realizing some limitations. As I am going through and updating the website in December of 2025, a good 2 years after writing this blog originally, I'm realizing how that tough decision became the catalyst for me to start advanced studies in Craniosacral Therapy. I have learned and grown so much with this modality, and clients have benefitted enormously, I realized that rather than being limited I was shown a new path to take and grow with. Now as I consider taking other modalities out of my offerings it is not because of limitations but because I've had the new realizations of just how much more I can offer with Craniosacral Therapy.
