Diabetes is a condition that most are familiar with, whether you are diabetic or pre-diabetic yourself or know someone with Diabetes. While Massage, Reflexology, Reiki and other forms of holistic therapies are safe for diabetics, there are some things to consider both before and after your sessions. Often in partner with any chronic condition there is stress in managing it on a daily basis, and Diabetes is no different. Many clients report feelings of fatigue and depression just in trying to "get things under control". Fatigue, depression and stress can contribute to being less motivated to keep moving and that can begin to have an impact on flexibility in muscles and ligaments. Be AwareAs with any condition you will experience Diabetes in your unique way and it's important to communicate that with your Holistic Practitioner to ensure safe and effective sessions. It is a really good idea to talk with your medical doctor/practitioner prior to participating in any Holistic therapies.
Communication is key! Give your Practitioner feedback and keep them informed of any changes you are experiencing (positive and negative). Through discussion you and your practitioner can develop the best plan for your individual needs in improving your quality of life.
