When you book an appointment with me you are agreeing to my Clinic Policies. All of them. No ifs, ands or buts. I really encourage clients to be sure they are familiar with them because I do enforce them. They were created to ensure that there is a safe and respectful environment for you and for me. As Cold/Flu/Virus season approaches it's an opportune time to post some reminders. If you are unfamiliar with being self-employed you may not know that I only get paid per treatment with each client. How many clients I see in a day/week/month is limited to the endurance of my mind and body. I do not earn a steady and reliable hourly, daily or monthly rate. I do however, have regular expenses to ensure that I can provide a space and the necessary supplies to provide your sessions. (space rental, insurance, linens, oils, light and heat, booking app, payment solutions, website, etc.) When it comes to your appointment I value your time. I take steps to be sure that all is ready for your arrival in preparing the room, linens, oils or lotions, etc. and I have read over your file and notes from previous sessions. That space in my appointment schedule has been set aside just for you, and you are my focus. If you arrive for your appointment and have a cold, flu or other virus (or anything else listed in the Refusal Of Service Policy), I will not provide your session. I will however, charge you for the time that was set aside for you. Why won't I treat a client with a cold, flu or virus? Firstly because it will not help you feel better but most likely will make you feel worse. Read more here... Secondly, I put a lot of effort into maintaining a strong immune system because I am up close, and in a confined space with clients. I don't take chances that impact my business, nor will I risk other clients well-being. So when I am sick it means cancelling any appointments I have booked until I am no longer contagious and well enough to provide sessions. That means I go without income. I will not return to seeing clients until I am healthy and well, and can ensure that each client receives the best I can offer. You may also wish to consider what happens if the virus is passed along to your practitioner, and then to other clients that I see. For elderly clients and those undergoing treatments such as chemotherapy, that virus is likely to make them much sicker than you or I, and in some cases can be fatal if their immune system is suppressed enough. If a client ignores Clinic policies it is disrespectful and I will no longer have them as a client. I do understand that these policies may not work for some and that we may not be a practitioner/client match. I read an similar analogy on another holistic therapists website and felt it fit really well: Consider your appointment with me to be similar to a concert ticket, if you can't make the concert. Pass the ticket along or absorb the cost. (see the cancellation and no show policy page) All that I offer through Hand to Health is about well-being. Providing sessions that focus upon you reaching and maintaining your wellness goals.
