As many clients know I have begun a series of classes to upgrade my Craniosacral Skills. That means that sessions are changing as my skills grow through the early months of 2025. What it also means is that you will gain more from your sessions with me. While there will be more changes to sessions in the coming months, at this point here are some of the changes that you may notice during your Craniosacral sessions: ![]() ~ How often have I mentioned that your brain is busy, at the start of your session? Yes, that may be a common state for you, but you may also be experiencing some tension in your nervous system from your drive to your appointment, and all that goes with arriving on time and preparing. When a session begins with a calmer nervous system there is greater opportunity for the body to relax into its natural healing state. That’s a better space to start. Rather than only offering a stillpoint in calming the brain at the end of your session, I now offer it at the beginning as well. ![]() ~ Where the Upledger 10 step protocol that I have been practicing through the years will put my hands near to the area or region that you may be experiencing restriction in fascia or muscular tension, additional techniques help to guide my hands right onto that area. This provides a more direct approach to gently helping restrictions to ease. ![]() ~ In adding a few additional hand positions to those in the 10 step protocol, I can help to apply slight gapping to joint restrictions before stretching or unwinding the fascia or muscle. Gapping is often welcomed to pain and or restrictions in your joints as it allows for greater ease in movement. ![]() ~ Increased assessment protocols. That sciatic nerve that’s been an issue? Ongoing upper back/shoulder pain that travels into your jaw and sometimes brings on headaches? Difficulty taking a full and complete breath because it feels like something is "catching"?New assessment techniques help me to further zero in on where the original impingement is likely happening. I then apply techniques right on that area of restriction. ![]() ~ I’m learning more about how connected the body is! Lets take your pelvis as an example. Even a slight difference in the level of the Ilia (pelvic bones) can compromise how you walk, create low back pain, cause adhesions to the lower abdominal organs, create painful periods, cause constipation, interfere with bacterial balance in the small and large colon, place additional strain on the hip, knee and ankle, cause low back pain, cause sacroiliac pain… Through slight correction it can begin a process of healing and easing in many more areas that the pelvic bones. ![]() ~ How deep is the injury? Craniosacral Therapy gently offers treating as deeply as the body, mind and spirit will allow. There is no need to express it verbally. Your body, mind and spirit will direct my hands in the needed directions for release and healing. Think of Craniosacral Therapy as a gentler approach to assist the body, mind and spirit in their natural healing abilities. Where Massage Therapy is forcing (gently or deeply) change to take place, where I feel that the muscles are tight or restricted, Craniosacral Therapy guides me to where the body is needing some assistance in order to correct itself. In calming the Nervous System, Craniosacral Therapy eases tension in mind and body.
