Intraoral Craniosacral Therapy involves gentle, specialized techniques applied inside the mouth to assist with easing tension in the jaw, the palate, the floor of the mouth, sinus cavities, articulations between facial and cranial bones, and other structures in and around the mouth, face and throat. Through easing fascial and muscular tensions it can be an effective way to address pain in the TMJ, injuries to the mouth, headaches and stress. External Craniosacral Therapy to the Facial Bones and Cranium may be enough to ease these areas but at times additional assistance is needed.

A Concussion is something that often brings clients in for a Craniosacral Therapy session, whether for a recent injury or when navigating post concussion symptoms. Headaches, “foggy brain”, problems with balance, “shooshing in the ears”, problems with concentration, ongoing sensitivity to light or noise, Depression, Anxiety, more Emotional or experiencing mood swings… are just some of the symptoms that clients have mentioned post concussion. In a recent discussion amongst Holistic Practitioners the question was asked “Why do clients come to see you?” “Why do they come back?” After thinking about this I decided that a part of the reason was perhaps, the opportunity to take a “time out” for however long they were on my table. That for an hour or more they could rest in mind, body and spirit, not be “on” and not have to be “doing”. Instead for a short time they could just rest and be. Why do I get this impression? Because the thing I hear from you most often is “I have never felt so relaxed. Ever." Taking “time out” or resting your mind, body and spirit is a crucial part of physical, mental and emotional health. It does not have to be earned. When you book an appointment with me you are agreeing to my Clinic Policies. All of them. No ifs, ands or buts. I really encourage clients to be sure they are familiar with them because I do enforce them. They were created to ensure that there is a safe and respectful environment for you and for me. As Cold/Flu/Virus season approaches it's an opportune time to post some reminders. Do you twirl? You know what I mean don’t you? When you spread your arms wide and gently spin your whole body. Feeling the breeze through your finger tips, your body in motion and a sense of freedom. I think that as we age twirling becomes a lost art. An art that benefits your health at all ages including increasing balance, proprioception, joy and relaxation. "Never stop learning because life never stops teaching" was a quote often shared by one of the instructors when I was studying Massage Therapy. She was right, and her words have had such an impact on me through my years as a Holistic Practitioner. During the last day of instruction of the Level 1 Advanced Craniosacral Therapy training that I’m currently taking, I had an “a ha” moment. I realized that what I was learning was bringing together all that I’ve learned, practiced, understood and taught in the holistic health field through the past 34+ years. A moment when all of my understandings and beliefs clicked, made sense and pointed to the path forward in what I do. It's a little overwhelming and difficult to put into words, but I will try. As many clients know, I have begun a series of classes to upgrade my Craniosacral Skills. That means that sessions are changing as my skills grow through the early months of 2025. What it also means is that you will gain more from your sessions with me. While there will be more changes to sessions in the coming months, at this point here are some of the changes that you may notice during your Craniosacral sessions:
Healing Can Happen Through Relaxation The comment I hear most often from clients, at the end of a Craniosacral Therapy session or Reiki session, is that they have never before felt so deeply and completely relaxed. There is something in the quiet of those two Holistic therapies that nurtures you, mind, body and soul. |
