"Never stop learning because life never stops teaching" was a quote often shared by one of the instructors when I was studying Massage Therapy. She was right, and her words have had such an impact on me through my years as a Holistic Practitioner. ![]() During the last day of instruction of the Level 1 Advanced Craniosacral Therapy training that I’m currently taking, I had an “a ha” moment. I realized that what I was learning was bringing together all that I’ve learned, practiced, understood and taught in the holistic health field through the past 34 years. A moment when all of my understandings and beliefs clicked, made sense and pointed to the path forward in what I do. It's a little overwhelming and difficult to put into words, but I will try.

![]() As a business owner it is really helpful to look back at the numbers from the past year to see where things have improved and where they may need some adjusting. As a Holistic Health Practitioner, while numbers are important, I look more closely at what clients mentioned the most in what was going on for them and which therapies they said were the most helpful. It's always interesting. It also often means that the numbers experiencing those issues are likely higher...you don't tell me everything, neither do you need to. What does it mean to Focus Massage on an area?
Taking 45 to 60 minutes to just focus massage to one area, for example the legs, the arms, or the back During a Yin Yoga session poses are held for a longer period of time in order to benefit, stretch and open the deeper muscles and fascia. Fascia alone needs a minimum of 90 to 120 seconds to begin to release during a stretch. Taking time to allow the fascia to stretch is essential to maintaining flexibility, range of motion and overall holistic well-being.
Unlike Massage and Myofascia Release, Craniosacral Therapy causes a more subtle "unwinding" effect on Fascia and in that provides muscles more room to move. The movements are light, almost unnoticeable. The effects are amazing. ![]() The first time Craniosacral Therapy crossed my path I was a busy single parent of a 10 year old. While he was really bright and could articulate all kinds of information that he took in, dissect and discuss it, my son always had trouble with writing it down. Any kind of paragraphs, essays, stories...were a struggle. Over a coffee discussion with a therapist who specialized in Craniosacral Therapy for children, my son ended up with an appointment. He felt comfortable right away and fell soundly asleep on her table. She asked me at the end of his session if he had ever hit is forehead and she pointed to the centre. |
