There have been a lot of bookings for Indian Head Massage with Oil in recent weeks. Clients are feeling the dryness of Summer inside and out while their bodies and minds are subconsciously preparing for Autumn. Plus they slide off the Massage table in a state of complete relaxation and total bliss! Ayurveda is a "science of life" , a powerful mind-body system of health developed thousands of years ago in India. The 2 main principles are, firstly, the mind and body are connected and secondly, that the mind is the main force and power behind the healing and transformation of the body. When the mind is cared for, supported and healthy, it maintains a balance and vitality that extends to the body. Through this a person stays vibrantly healthy while living a life of realization of their full potential. The practice of Ayurveda includes tools for expanding self-awareness and balance to create and maintain perfect health. By paying attention to the season that is coming as well as the season you're in (right now summer leading to Fall) you can maintain a positive life balance for today and what's coming tomorrow. Powerful tools such as Meditation, Deep breathing, Enjoying restful sleep, Eating healthily, Maintaining a connection with nature, Having a daily oil massage .... are all part of an Ayurvedic lifestyle. At present we are in Summer mode. The weather is hot and dry and our body needs ways to cool and moisturize. Cooling foods can include Coconut, Cucumber, Watermelon, Mangoes, Pears, Mint, Green Leafy Vegetables, Onions, Melons, Lemon, Peaches, Tomatoes, Grapes, Eggplant, Yellow Squashes... All ways to cool and pacify the heat within, while preparing for Autumn. For the Ayurvedic sessions that I offer that use oil, Organic Coconut Oil is my go to for Summer. Moisturizing and nourishing for skin and hair, it also absorbs well into muscles and joints. As our body begins to prepare for Autumn it absorbs as much moisture as possible to add an extra layer of protection to the skin for cooler temperatures, so moisturizing is essential during August. Ayurvedic sessions are light in pressure, deeply relaxing and encourage balance for mind and body. They encourage physical and mental stillness, relieve fatigue and encourage vitality, stamina and better sleep as they nourish all parts of the body. During a session attention is also placed on the Marma points, which are vital points of the body where structures meet and pain may exist. :Like a door or pathway, activating a Marma point stimulates the inner pharmacy of the body, changes the body's biochemistry and can cause radical alchemical change. The body is amazing and knows what to do to self-heal. We just need to give it the right conditions to do that. Read more about the Ayurvedic sessions that I offer.
