There are many forms of Massage Therapy. One of the things I appreciate the most about my training has been the various modalities that I have learned. One instructor told us that we were being given a toolbox filled with modalities and through assessment and talking with clients it was up to us and the client to determine which of the modalities would be the most useful. Years of experience and listening to clients has made this an intuitive act.
Massage Therapy involves a system of long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration and shaking motions that loosen and relax tight and knotted muscles, which may be causing pain or imbalance.
Stretching loosened muscles or the fascia that surrounds them, lightly encouraging lymphatic drainage, helping the muscle to open and relax... Whether Moderate Pressure Massage or Relaxation Massage in application, Massage increases circulation and restores a sense of harmony. BUT there is more to Massage Therapy than the physical aspect of relaxing muscles, there is the holistic benefits of touch, in reducing stress and calming the mind. From the moment a person's hand is placed on the arm of another there are numerous physical and emotional events that are triggered in both body and mind. It is awareness and attention to the effect of the session on the whole being, that is the focus of a Holistic Massage session. Isn't it time for yours? |
